Christmas at Engadine

December 20th, 2011 by Honey Hill

The Holidays are a wonderful time at Honey Hill Inn and Cabins. Engadine, our 1885 Queen Anne Victorian mansion is decorated from top to bottom for Christmas! This year, we have two gorgeous trees adorning the first floor. The largest, a nine foot tree, is in our formal parlor. We also have a smaller tree in the dining room for guests to enjoy during breakfast.

The the cover of our 2011 Christmas cardfeatures our historic barn, which was built in the 1940s by Glenn Howell for his livestock. It stands where Captain John Keais Hoyt once had his Engadine Vineyards winery where he made his famous Engadine wine. Today, the barn is still in use, even though there are no farm animals. Our nearest neighbor, Mr. Kitty, occasionally checks in for the evening to dine on small critters.

This year Christmas weekend promises to be busy at Honey Hill. Our cabins are fully booked, but there are still a couple of rooms left in the mansion. Gretchen and I will be working and enjoying every minute of our second Christmas at Honey Hill Inn and Cabins!

There’s a Chill in the Air!

December 12th, 2011 by Honey Hill

It has been a while since I posted anything to this blog. We had a very busy October and November and the weather was fantastic. But before we knew it, there was frost on the pumpkin (an old New England saying).

Dolly, our 10 month old Chihuahua Shih Tzu mix, is pictured here. While she enjoys a warm fire, she happily suits up to go for a walk with the rest of the pack (Gretchen, Oliver and me). In case you are wondering, Miss Dolly is sporting a corduroy ‘double-breasted’ Woolrich jacket!
